Digital examination
In the digital examination, your doctor inserts a gloved, lubricated finger into your rectum. If the doctor feels anything unusual, like any lump or growth then the doctor will decide to do further testing.
Visual inspection
Internal hemorrhoids are usually too smooth and difficult to feel during a digital examination, so your doctor examines the lower part of the colon and rectum with a proctoscope, sigmoidoscopy or anoscope.
