Treatment of Nodular Prurigo with Ayurveda

Abstract

Nodular prurigo is a skin condition characterized by the formation of hard, itchy nodules (lumps or lesions) on the skin, particularly on the arms or legs. The itchiness on the affected skin is generally quite severe and can lead to excessive scratching. It can also sometimes cause a secondary infection. Nodular prurigo is a difficult-to-treat skin disorder. Nonetheless, it can be effectively managed in a natural manner with the help of some beneficial herbal products offered by Planet Ayurveda herbal manufacturing company.

Nodular prurigo: Overview

Nodular prurigo – also known as Prurigo Nodularis (PN) – is an intensely itchy skin disorder marked by the appearance of hard, red bumps (lesions or nodules) on different parts of the body. The skin areas commonly affected by Nodular prurigo include the sides of the arms and legs. However, the condition can affect some other parts as well, including the shoulders, neck, chest, back, and buttocks.

The bumps or nodules characterizing Nodular prurigo are usually 1-3 cm in diameter. The bumps have a rough and thick surface, and sometimes also have a crust, scab or scratch mark on top. The bumps can cause intense itching (pruritus), which can become worse because of sweating, high temperature, or irritation from clothes. Due to intense itching, people affected by Nodular prurigo can scratch the skin to the extent that it can cause pain or bleeding. Moreover, scratching can also result in the appearance of more bumps and can cause physical and psychological distress to affected individuals.

Nodular prurigo generally affects adults aged between 20-60 years of age. The condition can affect both men and women, with the risk being fairly high for older women.
