Ayurvedic Treatment Of Ehrlichiosis With Herbal Remedies
Abstract
Ehrlichiosis is a group of certain infections which are caused by several forms of bacterium Ehrlichia. These bacteria are also spread through ticks. Ticks transmit these bacteria to humans by biting on skin. The process of transmission remains the same like in rocky mountain spotted fever or lyme disease etc. However there is a possibility that involvement of different species of this bacteria can cause serious complications if left untreated. However, till now ehrlichiosis has not become a chronic condition. In this article we will mainly focus on the mode of transmission of bacteria, symptoms after the transmission, its modern and Ayurvedic management.
Introduction
The ticks which can infect you with Ehrlichia bacteria are preliminary found in central and southeastern United states. There are many types of ticks which can help in the transmission of this bacteria like lone star ticks, deer ticks and dog ticks, these all help in the transmission of bacteria and hence the condition takes place. People who have domestic animals and usually visit wooded areas for animal grazing are also at a risk of getting this infection more often. This infection has flu-like symptoms but can also be related to confusion and headache. Sometimes people also come up with some generalized rashes but usually this is noticed in the minority of cases rather than the majority.
Transmission of bacteria
There are three species of Ehrlichia bacteria. These are Ehrlichia chaffeensis, E. ewingii and E. muris eau claire sis. These bacteria are mainly present in areas like the United states and eastern united states. The mode of transmission of these bacterial species are as follows:
- Lone star tick in south central and eastern united states.
- Blacklegged tick in eastern united states.
Other modes of transmission of these bacteria are through blood transfusion and organ transplant. This mode of transmission is the most rare one.
Sign and Symptoms of Ehrlichiosis

For fever and all other symptoms can be considered as the result of pitta and kapha vitiation. Moreover, accumulation of ama can also be there so treatment is done keeping all things in mind. For kapha pacification, digestion fire stabilization, ama pachan and immunity enhancement there are certain herbs which can work really well like giloy (Tinospora cordifolia), haridra (Curcuma longa), mulethi (Glycyrrhiza glabra) and many others.
