Ayurvedic Treatment for Infertility
Infertility refers to the biological inability of a person to contribute to conception. Infertility may refer to the state of a woman who is unable to carry the full term of pregnancy. Primary infertility is a type of infertility in which a couple never had a child. Secondary infertility is the failure to conceive following a previous pregnancy. Infertility may be caused by infection in the man or woman. It a woman is not being able to get pregnant after one year of trying, it means infertility. Some women who can get pregnant, but are unable to stay pregnant are nothing but infertility. Infertility affects both men and women equally and affects about 10% of couples in their reproductive age. Most cases of infertility cases may be attributed to a fertility issue with the woman and some with the man. Causes of infertility in women may include age factor, sexually transmitted diseases, damaged ovaries, blocked fallopian tubes, hypothyroidism, endometriosis, polycystic ovary syndrome, scarring in the uterus, fibroids, and muscle tumors of the uterus, congenital diseases like cystic fibrosis, excessive exercise, anorexia and damage to the cervix.
The common signs of infertility are the hormonal imbalances. Other symptoms may include pre-menstrual syndrome, weight gain, anxiety, facial hair growth, fatigue, low sex drive, breast tenderness, nipple discharge, night sweats, insomnia, vaginal dryness, gallbladder problems etc. The signs of infertility need to be diagnosed as soon as possible.
Treatment of infertility depends on the cause, woman’s age and also the partner’s age. A woman can become pregnant with reproductive technology and other procedures to restore fertility. Treatment for men infertility may include general sexual problems, impotence or premature ejaculation. Lack of sperm is suspected as the cause of a man’s infertility and hormones can correct the problem. Treatment for women may include fertility drugs as the main treatment. These medications may induce ovulation and may work like natural hormones such as follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH). But the side-effects reported are serious and troublesome.
