Natural Cure For Goodpasture Syndrome With Herbal Remedies

ABSTRACT

Autoimmune disorders have always been one in all the key health concerns among the overall public and the biomedical fraternity. Autoimmune disorders are a bunch of disorders that have a typical pathology mechanism-the immune system becomes abnormally overactive and the immune cells react against antigens which are an element of the body normally and hence destroying the healthy body tissues. Goodpasture syndrome is one such disease. It is also called anti-glomerular basement membrane (anti-GBM) disease. It is a really rare condition but a severe one.

Goodpasture Syndrome

INTRODUCTION OF GOODPASTURE SYNDROME

Goodpasture syndrome derives its name from an American pathologist and physician ‘Ernest Good pasture’. The scientist detailed this disease for the primary time in 1919. Afterward, anti-GBM antibodies were discovered which then helped to grasp the pathogenesis of Goodpasture syndrome in a very better way. Goodpasture syndrome is an autoimmune disorder that affects both lungs and kidneys. The disease is caused when the anti-glomerular basement membrane antibodies start functioning abnormally and as a result starts attacking the body’s own cells and tissues. It majorly impacts the lungs and kidneys and presents as Glomerulonephritis {i.e. inflammation of the glomeruli (the filters within the kidneys)} and pulmonary hemorrhage (bleeding associated with lungs).

Incidence– Goodpasture syndrome could be a very rare disease. It impacts less than 2 people in 1 billion. It is seen more in younger men and older women.

Age group– It always affects the people from the age group of twenty to thirty years or quite sixty years.

CAUSES OF GOODPASTURE SYNDROME

As Goodpasture syndrome is an autoimmune disease, it causes the antibodies of the body to attack its own protein. The attacked protein that is responsible for many functions in the body is called Collagen. This condition abnormally attacks the collagen which is present in the glomerular basement membrane (GBM) of the kidneys. These antibodies attack the collagen in kidneys and further starts invading the collagen of lungs. This leads to destruction of tissues which results in bleeding and difficulty in breathing. There are no yet confirmed known causes of Goodpasture syndrome. It is estimated to be a result of a combination of factors such as environmental factors and genetics.
