How Can Ayurveda Help In PCOD (Polycystic Ovarian Disease)? – Yoga Tips and Herbal Remedies

ABSTRACT

We all know that, since ancient times, women have always ignored their health issues while taking care of others. They always avoid their symptoms, such as pain, delayed periods, etc. Nowadays, the environment and free time in their lifestyle create many health-related problems, such as Endometriosis, gynecologic cancers, etc., among women. In today’s world, the most common is PCOD (Polycystic Ovarian Disorder). It is an imbalance of essential hormones in the female body due to which periods delay or stop. Females in their 20s and 30s, when they are trying to get pregnant, are diagnosed with PCOD. PCOD affects childbearing ability. In this article, we will tell you the symptoms, causes, diagnosis, and Ayurvedic treatment of Polycystic ovarian disorder.

INTRODUCTION

PCOD (Polycystic Ovarian Disease) affects women’s ovaries. In this medical condition, female ovaries produce immature eggs in large numbers, and after that, these become cysts in the ovaries. Due to this, the size of the ovary increases, and it will secrete a higher amount of male hormones, causing irregular menstrual cycles, abnormal weight gain, etc. It can be controlled by a proper diet plan and lifestyle changes.

There are the following causes of PCOD

AYURVEDIC OVERVIEW OF PCOD

Ayurveda is an ancient medical science. Ayurveda gives positive hope to patients. In Ayurveda, the equilibrium of doshas plays an important role in good health, and when it breaks, it will lead to disease. As per our Ayurvedic texts

The Aim of Ayurveda is

योजनं चास्य स्वस्थ्यस्य स्वास्थ्यरक्षणमातुरस्य विकारप्रशमनं च ।

Which means the purpose of this is to maintain the health of the healthy and relieve the disorders of the sick.
Mainly, PCOD is a disorder associated with Kapha dosha in Ayurveda, but all three principal doshas play an important role in PCOD. Meda Dhatu is involved in it. Movement of the follicle is the main function of the Vata dosha. The activity of hormones is mainly due to Pitta dosha. Kapha dosha provides proper nutrition to the follicle.
