INTRODUCTION TO LEVATOR ANI SYNDROME

Levator ani syndrome is a chronic condition presented by episodic pain in anus and rectum. Spasm of the levator ani muscle causes pain in the areas surrounded by muscle. This pain radiates to the tailbone, hips and other areas. There is no bowel movement related to this spasmodic pain also there are no any structural abnormalities found in there. Briefly stating it is the condition where pain occurs in rectum and anus due to tightness of the muscles in anal and pelvic regions.

Levator ani syndrome is correlated with Khalli Vata in Ayurvedic literature. Function of the muscles is controlled by the biological force called Vyana Vata as per the Ayurvedic concept. 1. Avipattikar Churna

Dosage- Take 1 teaspoon thrice daily 10 minutes before meals with warm water.

2. Yogaraj Guggul

This herbal formulation is prepared using herbs like Pippali (Piper longum), Devdaru (Cedrus deodara), guggul (Commiphora mukul), Ela (Elettaria cardamomum), Jeeraka (Cuminum cyminum), Mustaka (Citrus rotundus), Haritaki (Terminalia chebula), Ardraka (Zingiber officinale), etc. In Levator ani syndrome, Yograj guggul helps in relieving the pain and soreness in anal and rectal region and treats spasm.
